Just about everybody’s feeling the recession right now, even the NBA, whose pool of free agent money has dried up to the point where sixth-man-of-the-year candidate (and UW and Rainier Beach grad) Nate Robinson is considering playing in Greece next season for a team that might be willing to pay him more than anyone in the States. Nate-Rob’s suitor is the same squad, Olympiakos, that coaxed former Stanford star Josh Childress away from the Atlanta Hawks last year. It truly is the world’s game, isn’t it?In more locally relevant news, three members of the 8-5 Seattle Storm — Lauren Jackson, Sue Bird, and Swin Cash — have been selected to start for the Western Conference in the July 25 WNBA All-Star Game, a franchise first. Former Storm coach Lin Dunn will coach the rival Eastern Conference squad. The Storm host the Detroit Shock tonight at KeyArena.
