Jon Brockman’s selection by Portland moments ago in the second round of the NBA draft almost gave former Sonic fans yet another reason to root for their former rivals down south. What with Nate McMillan coaching the Blazers and former schoolboy stars Brandon Roy and Martell Webster on the roster, Brockman would have given the squad yet another popular Seattle tie. But it’s not to be: Brockman will reportedly be traded to Sacramento, where he’ll join his former Husky frontcourt mate, Spencer Hawes. UW hoop fans who felt jipped by Hawes’ short tenure in purple and gold may now get a gander at what could have been.
