Joey Wilson is a mentally disabled 17-year-old whose mom says doesn’t process or reason the way other people do. Last year, Wilson was stopped by a Seattle cop for jaywalking in Queen Anne. The police say Wilson wouldn’t cooperate and resisted arrest. His family says they hit him for no reason. Wilson ended up with a broken nose, a concussion and scrapes all over his face. Now he and his family have filed a police brutality lawsuit against the city, armed with a video filmed by a neighbor who says he watched it all go down. For more on how jaywalking stops in Seattle can go wrong, check out Seattle Police Officer Caught on Tape Punching Woman During Jaywalking Stop.
