I’ve been a little more checked out than usual during the second half of the M’s season this year, but I made it to last night’s game. Damon hits the highlights and Seely hits the low attendance. But I have a more important question: When did Felix Hernandez start wearing short pants? I’ve long been a fan of Ichiro’s choice of old-timeyesque attire. It gives someone with a lot of speed the impression of being even more sprite and somehow the cut below the knees nicely accentuates his, um, ass-ets. But last night Hernandez was looking a bit taller and more powerful, throwing out 121 pitches into the eighth inning. He held Oakland to two runs. Of course, Hernandez is one of the best pitchers in baseball and a Cy Young contender, but I can’t help wondering if the short pants make that a little easier.Then again, closer David Aardsma has also gone short in the pant and there was a definite moment of fear he might actually lose it last night. So maybe not.
