It’s my fault that Watertown closed. When I first moved to First Hill, I was ecstatic to learn that there was a nearby coffee shop/bar that served caffeine and booze all day and all night. For a while it was great. Then things changed. Part of Watertown became 21-plus; you could no longer get whiskey in the a.m.; and eventually the coffee shop started to look like an overcrowded basement with too much furniture. I quit going. And the,, just like that, it closed. I can’t say I was surprised. But in retrospect, I should have done my part to keep it afloat. After all, where else am I going to get that Jameson’s at breakfast?
