It’s merely the first day of Seattle life as a one-newspaper town. And while the standalone eP-I has not yet posted its staff directory online, here’s a partial list of those editorial staffers who stayed on after the final press run (they’re now referred to as “news gatherers”): Scott Sunde, Andrea James, Vanessa Ho, Joel Connelly, Casey McNerthney, Levi Pulkkinen, Scott Gutierrez, Aubrey Cohen, Chris Grygiel, Big Blogger Monica Guzman, photog Josh Trujillo (his death-notice snapshot left), and in sports, Greg Johns and Gerry Spratt, as night sports editor. The eP-I earlier said Art Thiel will be contributing sports columns, along with Jim Moore (though he did a sign-off column this week that sounded final). Cartoonist Dave Horsey’s site is linked to the ePI.So perhaps it’s not surprising at the suddenly shrinking P-I that much of today’s news is from the police blotter, lots of wire copy (or rewritten regional paper stories), some fluffed up political releases, and frequently updated links to TV coverage of breaking events and local blogs. Perhaps most painfully for P-I veterans, one of the top stories this morning was a link to the Times’ top story, an update on the Feds’ probe of WaMu.
