It’s easy to forget that Larry Phillips hasn’t announced his candidacy against Ron Sims for King County Executive what with the numerous appearances in local media (including us) criticizing pretty much anything and everything about how Sims runs the county. But technically he hadn’t made it official, until today. Sort of. Phillips just kicked out a press release to say he’ll be officially announcing his candidacy tomorrow at 9 a.m. This being the internet age and all, he hasn’t waited for the for-reals-official announcement to launch his Web site www.goforitlarry.com.Seattle, WA – Larry Phillips will launch his campaign for King County Executive at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, January 27 at The Labor Temple: 2800 1st Ave, Seattle, Hall 6. “I’m running for King County Executive to chart a new beginning for the county,” said Phillips. “Times are tough right now, and the public deserves a county government that is more relevant, inclusive, cost-effective and productive.” Six months ago, Phillips formed an exploratory committee to measure the grassroots support for a campaign for King County Executive. Since then, he has received hundreds of responses and contributions from people from all over King County with the same message: Go For It Larry! Phillips has a strong record of public service as a King County Councilmember. He has worked to keep sheriffs on our streets, to protect thousands of acres of forest lands and to solve our region’s transportation gridlock. Phillips plans to travel to every corner of the county to learn from the public about what they want to see happen in their own communities.
