It’s been a miserable couple years for quarterback Matt Flynn. After parlaying one excellent game in Green Bay into a three-year, $19.5 million contract with the Seahawks last year, Flynn quickly lost the starting job to rookie Russell Wilson and was unceremoniously sent packing to Oakland in the offseason. This year things have gone from bad to worse for Flynn; he was beat out in training camp by the ultra-raw Terrelle Pryor, and after getting a shot to play last week thanks to a Pryor concussion, Flynn proceeded to play so poorly that Oakland coach Dennis Allen demoted him to third string.
Third string, in Oakland … one of the shittiest teams in the league.
But, according to Redfin, Flynn did recently get a bit of good news. The 5,800 square-foot “stunning lodge style retreat” he bought in Issaquah upon arriving in Seattle recently sold for $1.33 million. According to Redfin PR person Kafia Hosh, Flynn purchased the home in May 2012 for $1.225 million. Though the down-on-his-luck quarterback initially listed the home for $1.448 million (later dropping the asking price to $1.399 million last August), the $1.33 million selling price does represent a small return on his investment.
Which, given the fact that at his current career trajectory he’ll be out of football all together by the middle of next year, is probably a pretty good thing.

The lodge-style retreat sits on nearly seven acres, with views of the Issaquah Valley and mountains. It comes with a spacious gourmet kitchen, a spa-inspired master suite, a five-car garage with shop, and a wine room. There’s also a “man cave” with a pool table, bar and flat screen TV. Outside, there’s a large deck with a fireplace and TV, so he’ll never miss a game, even when enjoying the great outdoors. The listing photos show footballs on display in the study, hinting at the owner.
