Hearst Newspapers’ “100 Days of Change” initiative now appears to come with a fairly hard end date: the third week of March. That is when Hearst’s P-I print edition, at least, is projected to end. It is also when Hearst’s San Francisco Chronicle will have reached a D-Day regarding its possible closure. And now Hearst’s San Antonio Express-News will cut 75 employees from its news staff by then.Says San Antonio editor Robert Rivard in a memo posted today: “No one is being asked to leave the Express-News today unless you so choose. March 20 will be the final day for those whose jobs are being cut, at which time they will then receive involuntary separation packages…”
