From the opening lines of Clark’s forthcoming autobiography: “I, pimp…”Those of you who as impressionable 15-year-olds did not immerse yourselves in the collected works of Iceberg Slim may now be curious as to the fundamentals of the so-called pimp game.Enter Mr. Slim’s 21st century counterpart, DeShawn Cash Money (not Cashmoney) Clark. Clark is currently on trial in King County Superior Court, the first person to be tried under the state’s human trafficking law. And it looks like he’s being helped into extended incarceration by one of his former cohorts. Mycah Johnson, also 19, began testifying against Clark and other alleged members of the West Side Street Mobb after pleading guilty earlier this year. In exchange, he gets not to register as a sex offender. When last we left the two, Johnson revealed Clark’s instruction on management. This week Johnson testified on how Clark allegedly instructed him in the delicate science of recruiting women to prostitute themselves on his behalf. To do so, he said, requires the pimp to “sell her the dream” by professing his love. And while his employees earned, Johnson and company would “hang out.” Sounds like decent work if you’ve got the stomach to exploit women, and/or have the wherewithal to deal as greater society points at you and boos.
