Former judge Michael Hecht might have a hard time landing work come

Former judge Michael Hecht might have a hard time landing work come next year. The Tacoma judge found guilty last Wednesday of soliciting and threatening to kill a male prostitute submitted his letter of resignation today. Michael Hecht will resign on November 16th, the letter said, three days before he’s to be sentenced.Hecht was accused of soliciting multiple men in Tacoma’s infamous Antique Row including Joey Hesketh, a 25-year-old prostitute who said he first met Hecht when he was only 14. It was Hesketh who made the claim that Hecht threatened to kill him shortly after the judge won election earlier this year.Because he’s a first-time offender, Hecht’s punishment is expected to be light: anywhere from zero to 90 days in jail. Short stint or not, Hecht will probably find work hard to come by when he gets out. Recessions tend not to work in the favor of convicted felons.
