Economy got you down? Look to Detroit. In fact, if just about anything’s got you down, look to Detroit. Things are so fucked up there, in so many different ways, that whatever pickle you’re in will seem pretty paltry by comparison. Case in point: the Detroit suburb of Pontiac is laying off every employee in its school district. Granted, some will be hired back next year, but human resource demo jobs simply don’t get any more extreme than this. Maybe Motown should turn the Onion’s Armageddon fiction into reality after all.
