Speaking of lip gloss, the latest and greatest space saver in that department is Delux Beauty’s Junior Duo gloss ($20 at Olivine, 5344 Ballard Ave. N.W., 206-706-4188)less than 2 and a half inches long, it’s a lip gloss on one end and a liquid blush on the other. There are two great color choices: “Nibbly Nude” for a natural look or “Twinkly Pink” for more color. Each end has a brush applicator, so there’s no need to tote extra makeup brushes. . . .The Junior Duo is so diminutive that it will make room for the relatively huge 1-ounce Peppermint Spirits with a dropper ($9.99 at Whole Foods, 1026 N.E. 64th St., 206-985-1500). This refreshing, pure peppermint oil is intense and worth it! With no added sugar. . . . While we’re on the subject of smells, check out the Papier d’Armenie deodorizing papers ($8 at Essenza, 615 N. 35th St., 206-547-4895). You get a booklet of perforated papers that you can burn to diffuse any stinky situationall you need is a lighter or a match. . . . Also at Essenza are Japanese blotting papers by Molza ($4), perfect for oily skin and shiny noses. Just don’t get the Papier confused with the Molza papers in a dark baryou don’t want to end up deodorizing your face or setting your oil blotters on fire. . . . Here’s one for the hairy girls: Between waxing appointments, get yourself a great pair of Rubis Slant Tweezers ($30-$40 at Ed Wyse Beauty Supply, 1800 Eastlake Ave. E., 206-322-9973) to keep handy in case
of a facial hair crisis. They’re worth the price, since they can last years if cared for properly. . . . Few things are worse than dark circles under a girl’s eyes after a long weekend. Take off those sunglasses and try this pint-size pot o’ magic: Time Balm has come out with an antiwrinkle concealer ($18 at Pearl, 310 N.E. 65th St. , 206-729-1149) for daytime, nighttime, and bedtime. Talk about multitasking! This double-duty concealer comes with a sponge the size of a quarter, is perfect for perking up tired eyes, and is smaller than a pot of Carmex. . . . If your eyesight is less than perfect, check out Time’s tiny retro eyeglasses at Ottica Eyewear downtown ($280, 2025 First Ave., Suite C, 206-443-0320). These groovy specs have a generous amount of girly-girl rhinestones in the frames. These are so damn cute that if you don’t need glasses, you’ll wish you did. . . . Sephora in University Village (2566 N.E. University Village, 206-526-9110) is always a safe bet for finding whatever you seek in the beauty realm. Their best travel-size item is a great pop-up travel brush ($8). It looks like a compact but pops open to a hairbrush and mirror inside. . . . Trish McEvoy at the downtown Nordstrom (500 Pine St., 206-628-2111) has perfected travel-size makeup. The most desirable item is the fuchsia pink leather makeup case ($75). In one pocket, you can put the travel-size brush set that comes with itthe brushes are the same excellent quality of the regular Trish McEvoy brushes, but less than a third the size. The other pouch can hold color palettes ($19-$24)glosses to powdersthat are all about the size of a credit card and as thick as a matchbook. . . . What we’re missing is a travel-size mascara. Many women wait for “gift” time and use the sample-size mascara that comes with the bag of goodies. But go for the full-size Yves Saint Laurent mascara ($22.50 at most makeup carriers). The one in the gold tube says it has a
“false lash effect,” which should be worth the extra space it takes. . . . But what if you’re out and about and you want to take it off in a hurry (your makeup, that is)? The travel wipes from Rescue Beauty Lounge ($5 at Burnt Sugar) can remove makeup anywhere, anytime.
