Didier does hypocrisy.Republican Senatorial candidate Clint Didier is not a big fan of his government. On his official website, the former NFL tight end turned Patty Murray challenger says he doesn’t trust it, refers to it as a “predator” and wants to work to limit its powers. Which may or may not include the power to write him checks.Didier is a farmer by trade. And he’s used this image of the hard-working, on-his-own American to gain support of the statewide Tea Party movement. But according to The Seattle Times, Didier has received nearly $273,000 in farm subsidies since 1995.Even better than Didier’s hypocrisy, however, is his explanation for it. He told the Times that farmers like him had to take the subsidies or else risk being at a competitive disadvantage. “If your neighbor has an advantage he is in the position to buy the next farm up for sale,” he said.Government: it only works when it’s working for you.
