Circle March 10 in your calendars as the day to hit Scarecrow

Circle March 10 in your calendars as the day to hit Scarecrow for your very own personal copy of Battle in Seattle. That film, which turned our 1999 anti-World Trade Organization protests into a melodrama starring Charlize Theron, opened SIFF last year. We didn’t love the film so much (review here), though writer-director Stuart Townsend and the rest of his cast had a certain passion for the project. He’ll provide a feature commentary track for the DVD, with full details after the jump…New York, NY (February 9, 2009)Screen Media is proud to announce two new acquisitions slated for release in first and second quarter ’09. The first – Stuart Townsend’s BATTLE IN SEATTLE will be released March 10, 2009 in both DVD and Blu Ray formats, marking Screen Media’s first venture into Blu Ray.BATTLE IN SEATTLE, starring Charlize Theron, Woody Harrelson, Martin Henderson, Andre Benjamin, Channing Tatum, and Michelle Rodriquez follows five days in 1999 that rocked the world as tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Seattle in protest of the World Trade Organization. Writer/director Stuart Townsend intertwines different points of view from a broad cross-section of society – protestors and police, delegates and doctors – who intentionally or accidentally find themselves on the streets of Seattle in the last days of the millennium. Townsend seamlessly merges footage of the real event with his fictional narrative illustrating how even against incredible odds, ordinary people can change the world.”Screen Media Films is thrilled to be able to offer BATTLE IN SEATTLE on Blu Ray,” says Suzanne Blech, Senior Vice President, Sales and Acquisitions. “With the spectacular cast, brilliant performances, riveting action and the compelling story of the World Trade Organization protests in Seattle, consumers will be enthralled by the experience. This is one of the best films of the year and deserves to be experienced in our medium’s best platform.”BATTLE IN SEATTLE (DVD) – Specifications:Street Date: March 10, 2009 Run time: 98 minutesRating: RSound: 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround SoundSpecial Features: “Behind the Scenes: The Making of Battle in Seattle;” Commentary with Stuart Townsend; “The Real World Trade Leaders” featurette; Theatrical Trailer SRP: $14.98Aspect ratio: 1.78:1Language: EnglishSubtitles: English SDH, SpanishBATTLE IN SEATTLE (Blu Ray) – Specifications:Street Date: March 10, 2009 Run time: 98 minutesRating: RSound: 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround SoundSpecial Features: Commentary with Stuart Townsend; Theatrical Trailer SRP: $29.98Aspect ratio: 1.78:1
