Chief Jerry Enick (by Harley Soltes)Given the tawdry goings-on at the Snoqualmie Tribe these days, with one faction disenrolling another as casino money is about to roll in, will King County go ahead with its plan to transfer Fall City Park to tribal control? “I can’t say at this time,” says County Parks Director Kevin Brown. “We’re still in the process of finalizing a draft agreement” with the tribe, he says, and “we haven’t had a conversation with [the tribe] since this issue came up. It’s a matter of staying in touch and seeing if we’re still on the same page.” The County Executive and Council would need to sign off on the deal too, and one would think they wouldn’t do so easily considering the current level of tribal dysfunction. At the very least, it would look bad to hand over a park to an administration that gathered “preferred voters” together to disenroll challengers.
