Capitol Hill’s Spanish cafe and bar, Chico Madrid, served its last bocadillo on Sunday. The cafe announced its closing after just one year in business.

Flying Squirrel Pizza Co. is heading to Georgetown. Eater Seattle is reporting a mid-May opening for the pizza joint in the former Calamity Jane’s space.

Nine Washington breweries took home honors at this past week’s 2014 World Beer Cup. Among the local winners are Airways Brewing (silver medal for 3rd Anniversary in the “Belgian-Style Dark” category), Redhook Brewery (gold for Audible Ale in “Classic English-Style Pale Ale”), Elysian Brewing (bronze for The Wise ESB in “Extra Special Bitter”), and Stoup Brewing (silver for Stoup Porter in “Robust Porter”).

Book Bindery chef Shaun McCrain has announced he’s departing the Nickerson Street restaurant to open a place of his own. McCrain will be at Book Bindery until June 28, and co-owner Sumi Almquist says she’s “in talks with a very worthy successor.” E
