Brent Magarrell does not live by the same rules that you or I do. For one thing, as a 50-year-old man living in Wenatchee he apparently sees nothing wrong with going to a teenager’s birthday party. For another, he also allegedly thinks getting a girl drunk and then raping her is normal.According to court documents, Magarrell gave the girl six to eight shots of vodka then talked to her about the “rites of passage” that occur when someone turns 16. But he wasn’t talking about a driver’s license, as he then allegedly had sex with the girl twice.To the teen’s credit, she apparently didn’t think too highly of this new ritual. She told her mother about Magarrell’s creepy come-on that same day and was taken to Central Washington Hospital. Meanwhile, Magarrell was arrested.He’s now been accused of two felony sex charges and furnishing liquor to a minor. Should he be convicted, he’ll be going to a place that has its own social customs, traditions he’ll likely be a lot less fond of.
