Beyonce Knowles is easily one of the 32 best-looking female celebrities on earth, right? Not according to the early results of KJR-AM’s “Bigger Dance,” the highly enjoyable annual spoof of the NCAA tourney that pits the world’s 64 hottest women against one another in the quest to crown the “Queen of the Hardwood.”Knowles, a #5 seed, was upset in the first round by twelfth-seeded Jessica Simpson, 33-21 (in the competition, the station takes as many listener calls as possible within a prescribed window of time, and tallies the votes). But she’s not the only cup of hot cocoa to be eliminated early on. Even more shocking than Beyonce’s bounce was twelfth-seeded Maria Sharapova’s 59-15 annihilation of fifth-seeded Rihanna. Less startling was longshot Rosario Dawson’s lopsided loss to Scarlett Johansson. And, in fairness, perennial contender Halle Barry trounced Reese Witherspoon in a first-round matchup, and looks destined for a Sweet 16 berth.Despite my attempt to inhabit the loins of a 24-year-old insurance salesman from Covington, I’m in last place in my office pool, so I speak from a position of some bitterness here (although my Final Four’s intact, so I still have a shot). And one of the things that’s struck me as particularly impressive about the Bigger Dance’s evolution is that the amount of female callers is at least equal to that of male callers. But the black girls still can’t seem to get much love, and that’s pretty damn lame.
