Back in June, we told you about Shane McClellan, the white West Seattle boy who was beaten by two men who he said were upset at him because of slavery. McClellan says the men, one of them black and the other Filipino, told him, “this is for enslaving our people” as they kicked, punched and peed on the 16-year-old over the course of a four-hour beatdown. Now police say they’ve identified McClellan’s attackers. The incident began around 2 a.m. McClellan says he was walking home when the two men — now identified as Ahmed Mohamed, 22, and Jonathan Baquiring, 21 — asked him for a light.Shane McClellan in the hosptial after a May attack he says was motivated by his race.Mohamed and Baquiring then allegedly beat and robbed McClellan. He says they whipped him with his own belt, asking, “How do you like it, white boy?” They also allegedly poured their energy beer on him and put out cigarettes on his neck before leaving him in the street, with a concussion and a bloodied, barely-recognizable face.Cops had Mohamed and Baquiring in custody the night of the beating. A police officer noticed the two men standing near where the beating took place, trying to discreetly drink a beverage. They had dried blood on their hands and were quaffing the same type of energy beer found on the scene.McClellan even identified them in a lineup weeks later. But arrest warrants weren’t issued until after a state crime lab report came back, linking both Mohamed and Baquiring to DNA found on the scene.”They had them, they let them go…This is proof that they dropped the ball,” Shane’s father told the Times.Baquriing is now in custody, while Mohamed remains at large. Both have been charged with first-degree robbery and malicious harassment, the state’s hate-crime statute.See our original story: Shane McClellan’s Dad Wonders Why His Son’s Attackers Haven’t Been Arrested.
