As we were plotting the schedule for this year’s REVERB Local Music

As we were plotting the schedule for this year’s REVERB Local Music Festival in Downtown Ballard, we just couldn’t shake this year’s mayoral election from our lobes. Why? Because it’s fuckin’ scary, man–the next leader of our city is 100% certain to be a middle-aged Irishman with zero experience in public office. We need to get to know these guys better, not just on a policy front, but on a personal front.Seeing as Mallahan and McGinn are both micks, and seeing as how the quintessential mick bar, Conor Byrne, is among the REVERB venues, we decided the only course of action was to hold a debate in that bar–and have John Roderick of the Long Winters (pictured) host it, along with yours truly. The debate, which commences at 8:30, will be mercifully short and action-packed. Not only will we discuss issues involving public safety and freight mobility, we will also discuss the philosophical nuances of ’80s sitcoms and whether the Marshall Tucker Band could kick .38 Special’s ass. I kind of doubt it, but who knows what Average Joe and Mike the Bike think? That’s precisely why this public service will be provided at REVERB; admission is guaranteed with the purchase of a wristband, which entitles you to see all 64 bands.
