Army Ranger Luke Sommer in his pre-criminal days.At this point, it’s safe to say that the prospect of more prison time is no longer deterrent enough to keep ex-Army Ranger Luke Sommer from behaving like a criminal.In 2006, Sommer led the coordinated robbery of a Tacoma Bank of America. Armed with AK-47s and an IED, the precision attack netted Sommer more than $50,000 in loot and a 24-year sentence.In January of 2009, Sommer shivved a co-defendant whom he suspected of ratting him out. Then, three months later, just to show his prejudices extended beyond his inner circle, court documents say Sommer offered an FBI informant $20,000 to kill the federal prosecutor trying his case.Under terms of a plea deal, Sommer will get an extra 20 years tacked onto his sentence for the stabbing and solicitation of murder. If his past is in any indication, though, it’ll likely have no effect on any future decision-making.
