Alex Steffen, editor of Seattle-based Worldchanging.com, who recently chimed in here on The Dave Matthews Band’s green initiatives, has written the counterpoint to this month’s Wired cover story which suggests reducing carbon at all costs is the answer to curbing global warming. That means, according to Wired, passing on organic meat, embracing nuclear power, and taking the axe to old growth. Steffen’s not buying it.”Make no mistake: Tackling climate change is vital. But to see everything through the lens of short-term CO2 reductions, letting our obsession with carbon blind us to the bigger picture, is to court catastrophe.”
