According to Fuse, a King County judge has put off her ruling on whether Dino will have to have to be deposed before the election. Here’s what they say:Judge Kallas decided that she needed more time to evaluate the arguments and a set of new motions to be filed by defense lawyers. She rescheduled oral arguments for October 24th at 10:00, and intends to make a decision at that time. Judge Kallas has instructed Dino Rossi’s lawyers to reschedule his deposition for the beginning of the following week. The deposition would be cancelled if she rules in favor of Rossi’s motion to quash the subpoena. On the one hand this is good news for Rossi: The longer he can stave off this investigation, the more likely it is that he’ll get to skate through the election without anyone getting to the bottom of this scandal. On the other hand, it may suggest that the judge does not consider this an easy call, as I thought she would. She’s apparently not simply accepting the AG’s argument that the Rossi accusation should be reviewed and assessed by the state government first before any lawsuit is filed in King County. That could ultimately be bad news for Rossi.
