According to Beckett.com, Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr.’s 1989 rookie Upper Deck-brand baseball card is worth $750 to $1,500. The alleged burglars who stole this card and lots of other stuff from several homes in the Albany, N.Y., area likely knew this (or at least knew it was valuable). What they didn’t know was that this rare card would eventually lead to their downfall. WNYT 13 News in New York reports that Gregory Amyot and Robert Spraker were arrested back in November for using stolen credit cards. But when officers started looking more into the duo’s doings they found The Kid’s mint-condition card and connected it to a burglary that had happened sometime earlier on Albany’s Madison Avenue. Once they started looking into that burglary, the floodgates opened, and police were able to connect the pair to several burglaries around town. The two have since been charged with burglary and larceny.Griffey, meanwhile, continues to prove that despite not playing baseball anymore, he’s still the M’s Most Valuable Player.Follow the Daily Weekly on Facebook
