Aaron Toso, who most recently worked as the spokesman for the Yes on Prop 1 (roads and transit) campaign, has taken the job. He starts Dec. 10. Toso will replace Lars Erickson, who leaves the governor’s office next week to do PR for Pierce Transit.Toso, a consultant for Tacoma’s Gordon Thomas Honeywell Governmental Affairs, last year was the spokesman for the No on I-933 campaign, a measure that would’ve required government to compensate property owners if state laws kept them from using their land. (The measure failed 67 to 33 percent.)He says he’s looking forward the opportunity to work for Gregoire. “Unlike a campaign where you’re working on one issue, in the governor’s office you’ve got issues coming at you from all over,” Toso says. “Hopefully I’ll find a way to get some sleep.” Toso’s part of the new guard in the Gregoire office. In addition the former press secretary, the past few months have seen the departure of the governor’s speech writer, chief of staff and communications director.
