Who: Laura VeirsWhen: 8 p.m.Where: NW Court StageThere was something fitting about Laura Veirs closing out the NW Court Stage amidst spurts of rain rather than the patches of sunshine that defined Sunday at Bumbershoot. Veirs’ pumpkin-shaded folk is far more late-fall/early winter than summer, and the beautiful, if somber colors she evokes is highly appropriate for a festival that signals the city’s transition from summer to fall.July Flame–her stunning, yet perversely titled recent album–was on full display tonight, as Veirs was backed a band that featured her producer/partner in baby making, Tucker Martine, on drums. The cuteness and irreverence that marked her show betrayed July Flame’s serious, deliberate, and flawless execution. But Veirs more than made up for any deficiencies in the latter category with charm.
