Voracious, the Seattle Weekly blog that is to food as Reverb is to music, is sponsoring a cream-puff eating contest Thursday night at 6:30 at the Little Red Hen (7115 Woodlawn Ave NE) in Green Lake. Originally, this contest was to feature but two bearded rockers, Andrew Chapman of the Keeper and Matt Badger from Ravenna Woods, namely because cream-puff residue in beards is extraordinarily sexy. But then we thought it’dbe fun to open the door to a third contestant. That contestant’s name: Gabriel “Rumple” Mintz.

Mintz, like Badger and Chapman, is an accomplished local musician. He doesn’t have a beard, but he does love cream puffs. He’s hoping that culinary passion carries him to victory tomorrow night, where the winner will receive free grooming from Gray’s Barber Lounge as well as a $50 gift certificate to (where else?) Beard Papa’s, which will be providing the cream puffs for consumption. Whichever rocker swallows the most in three minutes will prevail, and the cost to spectate is…nothing! So you’ve got no excuse not to swing by the Hen for a few pops and some sticky, white entertainment after work.
