via myspaceA couple of weeks back, I caught an interesting quasi-hip hop performer I’d never heard of before opening for K’naan at Neumos. The artist’s name is Lyricist Yze and she’s an Australian native making music here in Seattle. She had a lot of good energy on stage (and off stage) but I do remember her vocals not being loud enough to really here what she had to say. She passed me her new single, “Over Ya Shoulder” that night and I’m listening to it again now. There’s a bit of an acid jazzy jam band production style underneath the beat and you can actually hear what she’s got to say. Check it out here if you’re interested. She’s got a lot to say and a fresh style to her. This track makes me want to give her another chance live.
