U2 plays Qwest Field with Lenny Kravitz on Saturday. The last time I saw a massive Qwest show was the Rolling Stones’ masterstroke in 2006. Before the show, I witnessed a hot dog-vendor purchase a pair of tickets for $5.Yes, Qwest shows feature the biggest names in rock, and some of the fattest ticket prices. But with soooooo many tickets available, the secondhand market really can get interesting. You can find second-row seats that you’ll need a payday loan for, but you can also find the odd ticket here and there for a, um, song, from non-scalpers just looking to unload the ticket that their buddy didn’t take.U2’s Qwest show on Saturday isn’t sold out, and I’d be shocked if it did (the Stones didn’t sell out, either). Therefore, people will still be able to be somewhat choosy and buy tickets at the box off. This means the scene outside the gates is going to be ripe for some deals.Sure, U2 may not be your bag (but are there people who don’t like Joshua Tree?), but the show is one of the biggest anyone’s ever seen, and I don’t think that’s a debatable fact. They’ve been setting up for days. This is the highest-grossing tour in history. It is history. And for $5, it’s gotta be worth it. Tip: The show starts at 7, but U2 doesn’t take the stage until 9 p.m., so hold out as long as possible for the best deal.Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
