Tomorrow, August 6, would have been Elliott Smith’s 42nd birthday. In honor of that milestone, the kind folks at Suicide Squeeze, one of Smith’s local homes, are giving away a limited number of copies of the Division Day CD-EP. The songs “Division Day” and “No Name #6” were originally part of the recordings for 1998’s XO, but didn’t make the album.Quoth the label:In fond remembrance we’re giving away copies of Elliott’s “Division Day” CD-EP. The give-away will commence at 9 a.m. on August 6, 2011. Supplies are extremely limited. Customers are only responsible for the cost of postage and the padded envelope necessary for shipping. No up-charge!You can find out more about the giveaway here. But what better way to remember a songwriter who still has no official memorial than to listen to some of his music?
