There’s no denying that The Roots aren’t just one of the best hip-hop bands to emerge out of the 20th century, they’re simply one of the best bands, period. Throughout the past 15 years, they’ve expanded the capabilities of what hip-hop presented with live instrumentation can sound like. They’re just as much a jazz-funk-soul-rock band as anything else and that comes across in their live concerts. It’s a part of what keeps them so high in demand–a demand that’s now even higher since they recently started working as the house band for the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon show and, subsequently, don’t play gigs on the road as much as they once did.Despite being the new kings of late night television (musically that is), the Roots are playing The Paramount on Thursday, April 9th and Reverb has a pair of tickets to giveaway. Just email me at jcunningham@seattleweekly.com with The Roots in the subject line and a winner will be chosen at random. Good luck.Update: This contest is now closed.
