The Torn ACLs, Real RisksJuly 21, self-releasedWebsiteReal Risks is the latest offering from local four-piece The Torn ACLs, and its title is an ironic one. It offers the same kind of relentlessly hooky indie-pop that the band showed off on January’s Make a Break, Make a Move. The main difference, however, is that nearly every aspect of the new five-song EP is stronger than those of its predecessor: the melodies, the songwriting, and the sonic variety. By no means is it a risky record, but it’s a catchy one that certainly represents a step forward.Catch the band at the Tractor this Thursday or at the Sunset on July 21 for the Real Risks album release show.
