The Throne.So now that Kanye West and Jay-Z have dropped the most highly anticipated album ever (sensationalism at least partially warrented), what else is on our radar? Here are a few releases I’m looking forward to, both nationally and locally:Pusha T: Fear of God Part 2: Let Us Pray, August 23.One half of big-time Virginia rap duo Clipse, Pusha T released the pretty sweet Neptunes-produced single “Trouble on My Mind” which features Odd Future’s Tyler, The Creator, and an awesome video to go along with it that gives a promising look at the new project.Lil’ Wayne: Tha Carter IV, August 29.Whether you like the guy or hate him, or want to get in line to sue him, you have to admit, Wayne is an interesting dude, and whatever he decides to put out will be just as interesting.Mastodon: The Hunter, September 27.Trippy prog-metal at its best, The Hunter will be Mastodon’s follow-up to 2009’s Crack the Skye. After seeing them kick ass at the Gorge for the first time in a while, I’m even more excited to hear what kind of mind-bending heaviness they’ve cooked up here.Some local releases after the jump . . . Grayskul: ZenithAccording to Onry Ozzborn, Grayskul is working on a new album called Zenith that could be released by the end of this year or early 2012. The group just keeps getting stronger, as evidenced by their 2009 extra-nice collaborative effort Graymaker with Chicago producer Maker.The formal release of Metal Chocolates’ debut album.Currently only available on cassette (which you can buy as part of a box set at several independent record stores, along with Metal Chocolates chocolates and band merchandise), the formal release will bring some much-deserved attention to the psychedelic electro-rap duo of OC Notes and Rik Rude (of Fresh Espresso).Sandrider’s debut EP.Promising local punk/metal group Sandrider (which comprises Josh Weisnewski and Nat Damm of Akimbo and Jesse Roberts of The Ruby Doe) is set to release their debut EP on Nik Christofferson’s Good to Die Records any time now. The band is also playing this year’s Reverb Fest, which could be a big-time coming out for them.Mister Heavenly: Out of Love, August 16The indie-rock super-trio of Nick Thorburn (from Islands, the Unicorns), Ryan Kattner (from Man Man) and Joe Plummer (from Modest Mouse, the Shins) cooked up a 12-song “doom-wop”-styled album.
