The moment we walk into Fourno’s (4733 University Way N.E.), we’re accosted by two brothers who bare a striking resemblance to Doug and Steve Butabi from A Night at the Roxbury. They’re gyrating against one another like horny dogs and giving come-hither looks to the females. Everybody on the dancefloor avoids them like the plague, resulting in the guys having a two-three foot radius of empty space around them at all times. “Hey, I like you! Wanna dance?” they call out eagerly to girls who shoot annoyed expressions back. They’re definitely the stars-albeit, annoying ones-of the night. Fourno’s is a Greek restaurant by day, bar by night. Thursdays are its most popular nights, namely because college students receive free admission with a student I.D. (One of the Butabi Brother look alikes excitedly shares that you can avoid the $5 cover charge by using a college I.D. from three-plus years ago.) The second most common frequenters are European transplants, many of whom are friends with the restaurant’s jovial owner George Fourno. The establishment looks a lot like any other stereotypical Greek eatery in the neighborhood; bright colors, tiled surfaces, white lights. It’s a welcoming spot. Despite being relatively small and having little room to dance, patrons usually come dressed up as though they’re hitting up a club in Pioneer Square or Belltown. But oh, how their outfits pale in comparison to that of the bartenders. If one mentions Doug and Steve Butabi, it’s only fair to mention Fourno’s bar staff. They wear their dress shirts unbuttoned practically to their belly buttons and have chain necklaces burrowed into tufts of dark chest hair. And you get the sneaking suspicion that if they weren’t on the clock, they’d also be guilty of being on the dancefloor calling out, “Hey, I like you! Wanna dance?”
