The GallowsDuff McKagan’s column runs every Thursday on Reverb. He writes about what music is circulating through his space every Monday.Festival season is once again upon the continent of Europe and throughout the British Isles. Once again, I am fortunate to take part in some of these. These festivals always are a good place for me to see new bands and icons reunited. Here are a few of the highlights:The Gallows, “In The Belly Of A Shark” (Orchestra of Wolves): I finally got to see these guys live the other night in Holland. They are true and hardcore in their honest live performance of vicious punk-rock.Rage Against The Machine, “Killing In The Name” (Rage Against the Machine): These guys are, of course, ridiculous live. Their fan base expects nothing less, and this band has always been at the ready. I’m not sure if they are capable of being crappy!Cypress Hill, “Insane In The Brain” (Black Sunday): These guys are stoner rock on fucking steroids. I saw them do a set the other night in Spain…after witnessing them smoke the chronic for about 8 straight hours. These guys are always great to see, and they don’t take themselves too serious to boot! Awesome.
