The Fame Riot is such an eye-catching act that they’re not even headlining this show, yet they have somehow made themselves the focus of this preview. Nothing against headliners Shout Out Out Out Out —their blippy vocoder dance is . . . cute enough—but TFM grabbed me during their recent Sound Off! (EMP’s annual 21-and-under battle of the bands) semifinal victory (which, disclosure, I helped judge). The impossibly lanky co-singers, brothers Liz Scarlett & Shazam Watkins, take their glam shtick to the nth power onstage, teasing every last bit of excitement out of each electro-funk number (think MGMT jamming in fur coats on the beach). No, they didn’t win Sound Off! (congrats, Dave B), but they will put on an entertaining-ass show tonight. With Shout Out Out Out Out, Glass Notes. Chop Suey, 1325 E. Madison St., 324-8005. 8 p.m. $8. 21 and over.
