Pictured: An old flyer from The Corner. The final edition of the monthly local hip-hop showcase takes place Friday, March 26 at the Rendezvous. 10 p.m. Below are some leftovers from my interview with Candidt that didn’t make it into my piece on The Corner:On the origins of the event’s name: “Anything goes on the street corner. Anybody can walk up and down and enjoy us or piss on us. It was meant to let everybody at least get one shot to shine. I never wanted to have a show full of veterans.” On why he selected the Rendezvous: “There wasn’t too many places that sounded hip-hop good and that looked hip-hop good. The room was meant for it.”On the Fatal Lucciauno’s performance at The Corner in the wake of a booking controversy: “At the time, the whole musical scene was on Fatal’s ass. The Corner embraced him. And there were no problems.”
