For this week’s Seattle Weekly cover story, we featured five comics recalling some of the moments of that made Chop Suey one of Capitol Hill’s most beloved clubs.
Last night more memories were made as a handful of bands and fans bid adieu to the venue during a sold out celebration bash, Another One Bites the Dust. Tacocat, Pony Time, Wimps, Kithkin, Chastity Belt, and others took the stage, starting after 5 and pushing on well past midnight.
Booker Jodi Ecklund was there, the subject of frequent cheers and shout-outs from acts on stage, as were multiple crowd-surfers and flying cans of Rainier. Even the Grim Reaper, who looked a lot like Rachel Ratner from Wimps, made an appearance. It was a loving and raucous farewell to a venue that will be sorely missed by the many bands who knew and loved it, and the music lovers who came out to see them play.
