Opened in November ’09, the relatively new pun(c)tuation art and performance space on East Pike bills itself as a home to seekers of good taste, focused on the facilitation of quality and the proliferation of making and doing. And while these are certainly lofty goals, its calendar this weekend backs up the mission statement. This Friday from 8-11 p.m., pun(c)tuation plays host to the opening reception for Lions Disguised as Lambs, the West Coast debut of Hebru Brantley’s edgy artistry that juxtaposes mid-twentieth century minstrel images with modern cultural references. Just as exciting, though, is that this reception is serving a dual-purpose as the send-off celebration for Stasia and Cat of local girlfriend-duo THEESatisfaction before they depart for SXSW and their “Black Weirdo Tour.”The following night, pun(c)tuation hosts a listening party for the latest Freeway/Jake One collaboration The Stimulus Package from 7-10 p.m. And while the album session is a one-time gig, Brantley’s gallery stays open Monday through Friday until April 7.
