Music writer Rickey Wright died yesterday of a stroke. He was a frequent contributor to our music section in 2005 and 2006 under Michelangelo Matos. Matos has a tender remembrance on his blog. Wright’s work for us can be found on his author page. I especially love this bit of description from a review of an Andy Bey show at Jazz Alley: Even his wordless count-offs, barely more than rhythmic breaths, command an intimacy rare in any genre.
