Manhattan is treating Nabil Ayers quite well. The Sonic Boom Records co-owner/Control Group founder (and occasional drummer for the Long Winters) relocated to NYC in ’08 and has just been hired as Label Manager over at 4AD, where he’ll be “working with bands like Camera Obscura, Blonde Redhead, the National, Beirut, St. Vincent and an amazing catalog that includes Pixies, the Cult and Cocteau Twins.” Despite the fact that I recently came to terms with my inherit dislike of said Cocteau Twins, I’m very happy for Nabil. It’s a logical evolution in his career and they are lucky to have him.
