Local musician John Spalding left this mortal coil exactly one year ago today. I only got to know him during the last few months of his life, when he stopped by KEXP one evening before my show, a copy of his forthcoming CD in hand. He called the project Loveland and the CD, a gorgeous collection of songs about life, love and loss that was equal parts raw and refined, was entitled The Beautiful Truth. You can read more about John via my profile of the man and his work here. You can also listen to the conversation we had during in-studio with John and some of the musicians who played on The Beautiful Truth via the KEXP archives over here. My thoughts go out to the friends and family closest to him on this difficult day.
