When the walls literally and figuratively caved in on Zak’s (now the Funhouse) a few summers ago, there were a couple of clubs in town that caught the spillover, and the Lobo Inn was one of them. At the time, a lot of local music fans were only vaguely familiar with the Lobo—they mostly knew only that it was just up the street from Graceland (which, of course, is now El Corazon)—but it’s turned out to be a damn decent place to catch some action; the Lobo now hosts live shows every Friday and Saturday night. We’ll admit the side deck is criminally small and the “stage” is tiny, but we actually really like seeing bands down on the floor with the rest of us, and after all, the drinks are strong and cheap and the vibe is perfectly pretension-free. 433 Eastlake Ave. E., 206-223-9204.
