Justin Dylan RenneyRyann Donnelly, with Schoolyard Heroes, at Vera Project in 2009.After saying goodbye to her longtime horror-rock band, Schoolyard Heroes, last year, vocalist Ryann Donnelly (currently working with her synth-rock act Weekend) says she’s quit her post-Schoolyard project, Blood Cells, and is leaving town next month.”I will be moving to New York mid-June before starting grad school there in September,” Donnelly said in an email this morning. “I have been working on songs with some new people and will be doing some recording at the end of this month in LA with them. I will probably be using the new songs, and a few of my favorite Weekend tracks for a full record of pop gold.”This is a serious–hopefully temporary–loss for Seattle. Anyone who wants to get one last look at one of the city’s most compelling frontwomen, can check her out at two more Weekend shows before she heads east: Thursday night at the Can Can, and June 10 at The High Dive.
