Even a toddler could memorize the lyrics to “Boom Boom Pow” after one listen. But the Black Eyed Peas have embraced and made mind numbingly simple pop music their niche–and it works. Their explosive live show had fans as far back as the nosebleed section of the bleachers dancing. Will.i.am’s record spinning and Fergie’s rendition of a song off her solo album came off self-indulgent and unnecessary. But when BEP performed as a unit, they were entertaining as hell. So much so that when technical difficulties plagued the closing number, the undeterred crowd kept the momentum going by roaring the chorus anyway–which of course, is always easy to do on a BEP song.
