I’ve only been out of a deep state of slumber for a few minutes so this groggy post is as lucid as it gets. Last night, for some odd reason, I had a dream that I was playing drums on stage (at a house party, thankfully) for Seattle rock legend Chris Cornell. I was behind him fucking around on the drum kit, only halfway knowledgeable of what I was doing, when Cornell’s face closed in and he looks me dead in the eye and says, “alright, can you really play?” Shit. I know the real answer but there I was for a few seconds, slamming away on the drums in a room full of people as he jumped into a song. Weird, right? Maybe it was guilt creeping up for the way I slammed his latest album, Scream last month. Right after that, I was standing in a hallway inside of a New York City high school talking to a teenage Doug E. Fresh! It’s got me to thinking: What type of weird dreams have other people had recently that involve rock stars. I’m curious to know. Also, that photo above was taken this week with former Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil and former Queensryche singer Chris DeGarmo hanging backstage with Cornell at Showbox SoDo on Monday. Go figure.
