It has been a long time since an American funeral was celebrated/cannibalized like this one. Millions of people have descended upon the Staples Center in Los Angeles this morning and they’re all trying to get their hands on one of these tickets like what’s on the left. Note to readers: that is an actual ticket. While I can’t be there, one of my colleagues from the L.A. Weekly, Randall Roberts, is inside the Staples Center and live tweeting the entire thing. Kobe Bryant apparently just walked in to cheers, and Jennifer Hudson just blew Mariah Carey off the stage. If you’re hungry for live action of what the inside of the funeral is like (and don’t have a television handy), follow @laweeklymusic.com for plenty of updates.
