If you’re a fan of local electro hip-hop and “hover music” aficionados Fresh Espresso, you might want to tune into KEXP today at noon. The duo of Rik Rude and P Smoov (Mad Rad) are doing a live, in-studio performance of a few songs off of their debut album, Glamour, which just dropped a month ago. P Smoov calls the type of music they make “hover music” because, according to him, it floats above genres. To even try to list all of the sonic influences that one can hear while listening to Fresh Espresso, you’d have to list nu-wave, fidget house, Baltimore club, ’80s pop, ghetto tech, and sweaty soul music just to start. What’s cool is that they wrap all of that up in a hip-hop package and people are starting to embrace it.If you want to hear the music for yourself, turn on KEXP 90.3 FM at high noon.
