Slim Dunlap, former guitarist for the Replacements and beloved friend and musician, suffered a massive stroke last year and that will likely require “around-the-clock care for the rest of his life.” To help out with his medical bills, folks like Scott McCaughey, Patterson Hood, Frank Black, and Steve Earle are covering his songs in a series of limited edition 45s that are put up for auction on the 15th of each month. Replacements drummer Chris Mars contributes the cover art, and according to the website, once the auctions are over, “the songs are released digitally, and at the end of the year, we’ll be putting out a compilation CD of all the songs in the series plus some bonus tracks.” You can get more information
